Victorian Tourism to be boosted by Kingston Heath World Cup showpiece

I’m delighted that arguably Australia’s best golf course, Kingston Heath Golf Club, has been named as the venue to host the 2016 World Cup of Golf.

The World Cup of Golf is one of the most prestigious global events in golf and this will be the 58th year it has taken place and only the fifth time that it will be played in Australia.

This is the first year that Kingston Heath Golf Club has won the bid to host the event over neighbours Royal Melbourne; fuelling the debate of Australia’s number one layout. This aside, reports suggest that the tournament promises to deliver up to $66 million in additional economic impact to the State of Victoria, thanks to an estimated 25,500 visitors and up to 400 new jobs being created.

Victorian Minister of Tourism & Marjor Events John Eren declared “our events ensure our visitor economy is the best in Australia. Victoria’s steady stream of visitors means our restaurants, hotels and small businesses are full – and that means a stronger state”

This is great, not only for Australia & the golf industry, but specifically for Kingston Heath Golf Club. Consistently ranked in the worlds top 50 the Sandbelt course in Melbournes southeast will undoubtedly showcase the magnificent golfing landscape Down Under to a combined global audience of 1.7 billion people.

Here's a sample of what to expect when the gates open for play in November!
