Bentley branding takes flight

Bentley branding takes flight

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from my time in the industry, it’s that your business brand drives your sales, which drives your profit.

The brand, and the image associated with the brand, are two of the driving forces which pushed Bentley Motors to launch its own line of golf clubs and accessories at the PGA Merchandise Show in January this year.

Bentley. What do you think of when you read that word?

I think of style, sophistication and to acknowledge the pink elephant in the room, I think of dollars.

Now there’s a strong brand if I ever saw one. The 96-year-old British carmaker has managed to create an image which carries the suave and class of its target demographic in just one word.

Now as expected, these Bentley golf clubs come at a price. A standard set of eight irons ( 3-pitching wedge) will set you back about $3500. Add on a driver for $750 and a putter for $500 and you’re ready to go. Let’s not forget about all those extra add-ons Bentley have been so kind to think of, including custom-made $10,000 shafts and alligator skin grips.

I think I can safely say that I’ll be very excited to see these products out on the golf course and how they measure up to other clubs already established on the market.

It will be interesting to hear of user feedback from the Bentley merchandise and if Golf clubs in Australia start stocking the equipment for their members.

I’m still amazed that the Bentley brand has jumped from the motor industry to the golfing industry - it’s fantastic.

Golf Business Australia will be keeping an eye on the products, who knows, next we could be seeing Bentley Golf Carts. I’d be very interested to know your thoughts on this product launch. Let me know.
